Healthy Beef with Broccoli

Healthy beef and broccoli stir-fry is an easy 30-minute meal that is flavorful and family-friendly. This copycat takeout recipe is made with fresh and flavorful ingredients for a healthier version of your favorite stir-fry.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb flank or skirt steak
  • 1 medium diced onion
  • 5 cups chopped broccoli
  • 1/3 cup water

Sauce

  • 6 tbsp coconut aminos (substitute soy sauce or tamari)
  • 1 orange squeezed
  • 2 tsp honey (optional for sweetness)
  • 2 tbsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp red pepper flakes to your spice preference
  • 1 tbsp arrowroot starch (for thickening the sauce)

Instructions
 

  • Mix the sauce ingredients and set aside
  • Chop steak into bite size pieces
  • Finely dice onion
  • Chop broccoli into bite-size florets
  • Heat a large saute pan to medium and add water and broccoli. Let the broccoli steam for about 4-5 minutes until tender but still a little crisp.
  • Remove broccoli and set aside
  • Spray saute pan with oil and add onions and cook until they are soft.
  • Add steak to the onions and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add broccoli back to the saute pan and pour the sauce on top of everything.
  • Mix and cover. Let cook until steak is fully cooked and broccoli has soften.
  • Serve with rice, cauliflower rice, quinoa, or a combination
