How to Build a Satisfying Salad with Quinoa
Build an easy healthy balanced salad that tastes delicious and is filling with quinoa.
Have you eaten a salad trying to be healthy then found yourself reaching for a snack 30 minutes later?
Some salads are sad, with only a few veggies and dressing. When you build a balanced salad it is not only delicious but filling.
To build a balanced salad you need to add a source of complex carbs. You probably already add veggies and a source of protein, but you might notice you need a snack sooner if you don’t add carbs as well.
How to Build a Satisfying Salad with Quinoa
How to make a salad more satisfying?
- Leafy greens
- Vegetables-add a mix of raw and cooked
- Fruit-optional if you like the sweetness in your salad berries, apples, and other fruits can be a great addition
- Protein
- Complex carbs-think quinoa, sweet potatoes, lentils, or beans
- Healthy fats-nuts, seeds, avocado
- Dressing
- The extras-a dollop of hummus, squeeze of lemon or lime, salt and pepper
You will love adding quinoa cups from Keen One because they not only add a complex carb to your salad they also add a ton of flavor. Keen One quinoa cups come in 6 different flavors and are so easy to make.
In my salad I added:
- lettuce
- roasted broccoli
- sautéed onions
- cucumber
- avocado
- shrimp
- 1/2 a Keen One quinoa thai coconut curry cup
- 1/2 lime juiced
- salt & pepper
Keen One quinoa cups are a great way to add quinoa to your salad because they add extra flavor, fiber, and protein as well as being a complex carb. I added a Thai coconut curry cup to this salad but another favorite of mine is the chipotle cup for a yummy taco salad.
