Easy Sautéed Red Cabbage is made with:
- Red Cabbage: the star of the show that is full of color, fiber, vitamins, and can support a healthy gut
- Apple cider vinegar: adds a kick to this recipe and helps balance blood sugar
- Avocado oil: a light heart-healthy oil
- Water: just a little to help saute the cabbage
- Coconut sugar: balances out the sour from the apple cider vinegar
- Salt and pepper: add a little to your taste
Recipe Tips:
- You can swap coconut sugar for any sweetener of choice
- Interchange red cabbage for green cabbage if that is what you have on hand
- Too much vinegar for you? Reduce to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and add an extra tablespoon of avocado oil
- I like to slice the cabbage thinly-makes it great to add to meals and helps cook a bit quicker
- Some people like their cabbage with a little more crunch and will cook it for less time, other people like the cabbage more caramelized and soft and will cook it up to 30 minutes
- Want to change it up? Try using balsamic vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar
- Another fun way to add more flavor is to saute a sweet onion in the avocado oil first then add the cabbage
- If you want to sweeten it up a bit more add a peeled and finely diced apple to the cabbage when sauteing
