You will love Chocolate Peppermint Smoothie because:

  • Chocolate peppermint protein smoothie is a healthy smoothie that tastes like dessert
  • Filled with sneaky veggies and packed with protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber
  • Makes an easy and festive healthy breakfast or snack
  • Vegan, plant-based, gluten-free, and high-protein
  • A festive and nourishing holiday smoothie that tastes like a cookie

Chocolate Peppermint Smoothie is made with:

  • Banana: I like to use a slightly green frozen banana because they are lower in sugar than yellow bananas, supports gut health, high in fiber, high in resistant starch, but any banana works
  • Riced Cauliflower: excellent source of vitamin C, reduces inflammation, aids in digestion, and adds bulk to the smoothie
  • Protein: I use a chocolate protein in their recipe to add protein and make these treats more blood sugar-balancing
  • Cacao powder: raw cacao powder will give these a rich chocolate flavor that is filled with antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins
  • Almond butter: Almond butter works best for the nut butter in this recipe as it goes well with the chocolate and is a neutral flavor
  • Peppermint extract: gives the peppermint flavor

Recipe Tips:

  • Peel, slice, and freeze bananas while they are still a little green to get the creaminess without the banana flavor. Green bananas also have many health benefits that you can read about here.
  • Top the smoothie with crushed candy canes or peppermints, a mini candy cane, cacao nibs, or whipped cream to make it fun and festive
  • Collagen peptides are optional (and not vegan) but another way to add more protein
  • I like to use cacao powder for the extra antioxidants, but you can substitute with cocoa powder too
  • You can often find peppermint extract in the baking section or buy online like this one here
