Cinnamon Apple Yogurt Toast

Yogurt toast. It is a thing. Creamy plain yogurt is perfect for spreading on warm toast and then topping it with your favorites.

There are endless toppings for toast but this is one of my favorites. It is apple season and I have more apples than I know what to do with. I love making a big batch of cinnamon apples on the stove to have on hand as a topping or sugar-free sweet treat.

Recipe Tips:

  • I prefer sourdough but feel free to use your favorite type of bread
  • Use a plain thick yogurt that is not fat-free
  • Hemp seeds are optional but add extra protein, fiber, and omega 3’s
  • I don’t peel my apples, but you can easily peel peaches with a vegetable peeler if you like
  • If your yogurt is not thick and creamy mix it with a few chia seeds to thicken it up

Cinnamon Apple Yogurt Toast

Ingredients
  

Cinnamon Apples

  • 4 apples
  • 1-2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 3-4 tbsp water

Cinnamon Apple Yougrt Toast

  • 1 slice bread
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • cinnamon apples
  • 1/2-1 tsp honey (optinal)
  • 1-2 tsp hemp hearts

Instructions
 

Cinnamon Apples

  • Dice apples ( I leave the skin on to get more fiber and make it easier)
  • Add apples, juice of a lemon, water, and cinnamon to a small pot and mix
  • Cook apples over medium-low with cover on for 5-10 minutes stirring occasionally and adding more water if needed
  • When apples reach the desired softness, remove from heat and store in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Cinnamon Apple Toast

  • Toast your bread
  • Spread a layer of plain yogurt on toast
  • Top with warm cinnamon apples (freshly made or warmed up)
  • Drizzle honey if desired
  • Top with hemp hearts or a drizzle of nut butter
